Full Description

The boat-shaped form of this vessel is a common design found in ancient Asian pottery. The earliest evidence of this type in South Asia dates back to the Chalcolithic period in India. This pottery vessel was discovered near the ancient port of Godawaya in Hambantota, from a site associated with a submerged ancient bank dating to the 2nd century BCE.
