Full Description

These glass bottles, discovered from the Avondster ship, represent 38 different types among the artifacts found on board. All of them can be dated to the 17th and 18th centuries. Bottles with long necks were used for beer, soda water, and wine. The dark-colored ones have been identified as sherry bottles. Some glass fragments bearing a seal reading 'BELAIR DE GUILUR' have been identified as perfume containers
Historical Context Multiple glass fragments from 17th- and 18th-century bottles were identified, including long-necked bottles likely used for beer, soda water, and wine; and dark-colored bottles identified as sherry bottles
