Full Description
Jasaya is an old and lazy washerman. He enters the performance arena with his nephew. To prepare a carpet for the king, he starts washing clothes. However, he does not do the work properly. Seeing this, Kariya Karawana Rala calls Jasaya’s wife to help him. After she arrives, a District Chief (Mudali) passes by and sees this beautiful woman. He tries to talk with her in a friendly and flirtatious way. He sends his servant away on different errands so he can spend more time with her. The servant is repeatedly sent away several times. Later, the servant returns and, to expose the Mudali’s true character, says that he has seen a newborn baby who looks exactly like the Mudali. Hearing this, the Mudali quickly changes the topic and asks Jasaya’s wife about complaints regarding her husband. She says that Jasaya is always drunk, plays gambling, and is often away from home. Then Jasaya replies that his wife also has many lovers, and he claims that the Mudali’s companion is one of them. The companion strongly denies this. At this point, the accuser becomes the accused and the accused becomes the accuser. Finally, Jasaya’s companion is beaten by Jasaya. The Mudali then tells both sides to calm down and live peacefully.
