Full Description

Ropes were one of the major exports from Sri Lanka in the past. They were used by the sailors on board.Archaeological remains of ancient ropes in Sri Lanka are scarce due its fragile nature under tropical climatic conditions. Several strands of a coir rope were recovered in the Avondster. These are the only residues of ancient Organic substance so far recovered from a sunken ship in Sri Lanka.
